For the past forty years, Datum Filing Systems has led the way in innovative filing solutions for its customers. One of the company’s first products was a desktop organizer for names, addresses, and phone numbers that the owner designed in his basement. Currently, Datum’s product line includes diverse shelving systems, mobile filing units, LAN and security filing systems, and customized storage units. In 2001, the company built a brand new 120,000 square foot facility in York County to accommodate continued success fueled by the addition of new product lines.
This York County manufacturer of office furniture for reference material and computer disc shelving was rebounding from a twenty percent loss of sales in 2009-2010. Sales revenues were on the rise, but the profit margin remained stagnant. SEWN reviewed the company’s performance metrics and identified a process by which management could take actions to improve its operations.
